Goal Tips for a Fantastic Year!

Goal writingSo we just finished 2013, now jump ahead in time another whole year and picture that it is the end of 2014, Dec 31, 2014 to be exact! You are reflecting on the past year and all that you’ve accomplished. Get out a piece of paper and a pen and write out the 10 things you accomplished this year. Write your sentences in the present tense…for example I paid off 10k in debt, I lost 20 lbs, I landed my dream account (name the account). There is something about writing it out as though it has already happened that brings our goals to life. I believe it also triggers our faith and belief in what we can’t see just yet.

After you’ve written out your goals, celebrate that you have an entire fresh year to make those 10 things happen? Doesn’t that feel great!

Now here is the real work… break down your goals! What do you need to accomplish this month to make sure you are on track to reaching those goals? Remember slow movement forward is the key to success! Wishing for things to happen, doesn’t make them happen, action does! You need very specific mile markers for each of the next 12 months. Make sure your goals are also realistic and attainable!

Then jot down what you need to accomplish each week! Each day! There should be some baby steps forward every single day.

I started doing this exercise a couple years back and it really has helped me to accomplish a lot! I write it all out on paper, then take a picture of it with my phone so that it’s always with me. Then each morning as I’m planning my day I can look at my list and be reminded of the road I’m on and decide what things I can do today to bring me one step closer.

I end up tweaking my goal list several times throughout the year. After all, nothing is perfect and sometimes life can take us way off course. But when that happens, I just re-adjust and move on.

Here’s wishing that all your dreams & goals come true in 2014!

All my best,

sig2
